dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the study was to investigate factors related to stakeholders’ participation in road maintenance projects in Apac Municipal Council. Specifically, the study investigated; the relationship between communication strategy and stakeholders’ participation, the relationship between leadership styles and stakeholders’ participation and the relationship between knowledge of project management and stakeholders’ participation in road maintenance in Apac Municipal Council. The study sample size was 381 respondents. Data collection tool used were questionnaires and analysis was done using statistical package for social scientists version 23 to generate descriptive and inferential statistics. The result of the analysis indicated that; communication strategy has a moderate positive significant result with stakeholders’ participation in road maintenance projects, leadership styles has a moderate positive significant relationship with stakeholders’ participation in road maintenance projects and finally knowledge of project management also has a moderate positive significant relationship with stakeholders’ participation in road maintenance projects. Overall, it is conclusive that communication strategy, leadership styles and knowledge of project management have bearings on stakeholders’ participation in road maintenance projects and are very important components in enhancing stakeholders’ participation in road maintenance projects. These results were compared to other similar international research findings, and were found to be agreeing in many aspects. It is therefore recommended that management, policymakers and all the relevant stakeholders should pay particular attention to factors that affect stakeholders’ participation in road maintenance projects so that value for money can be realized in all road maintenance projects.en_US
