Technical project report for the construction works of cluster 4a roads in Kabale Municipal Council.

Abstract

This project report contains details about the construction works of Cluster 4A roads in Kabale Municipal Council. The report focuses on construction project management and contract administration and also details the activities carried out during the implementation of the project. Chapter One describes the background of the project, the problem statement, its objectives, the project scope and the company details. This chapter also expressly states the author’s involvement on the project as the assistant project manager. Chapter Two covers the project execution including the acquisition of works, execution of construction works, project management and contract administration aspects of the project. The different tools and techniques used in the actual construction that took place on site are discussed in this chapter, right from subgrade up to the asphalt layer. Health and safety, HIV/AIDS, gender issues and environmental aspects on the project are also discussed under this chapter. The challenges encountered during project execution are discussed in Chapter Three of this report. Some of the challenges were at company level while others were at project level. The solutions proposed to address these challenges and lessons learned are also discussed in this chapter. Chapter Four details the conclusions drawn by the trainee during execution of the project based on the experiences in participating in the construction works. Additionally, the author makes recommendations on how future projects can be successfully implemented based on the lessons learnt during the training.
