The study aimed at assessing the effect of NUDIPU's iSave Model towards economic empowerment of people with disabilities in Uganda as well as how government regulations influence that relationship in a moderating way. The study was premised on three objectives; to establish the relationship between NUDIPU’s iSave Model and economic empowerment of PWDs in Uganda; to examine the moderating effect of government regulation on the relationship between NUDIPU’s iSave Model and economic empowerment of PWDs in Uganda and to identify gaps, challenges and best practices for scalability of NUDIPU’s iSave Model for the economic empowerment of PWDs in Uganda. The study applied, a cross sectional, correlational, and explanatory research design study approach that used a mixed methods approach to collect both quantitative and qualitative data from 214 respondents of 250 beneficiaries of the iSave Model programme in Lira district and 10 iSave Model programme staff respectively. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 25 and Atlas TI, the study findings revealed that NUDIPU’s iSave Model has a very strong positive significant impact on economic empowerment of PWDs as a dependent variable (r=0.682, p<0.01). In the same breath, the findings revealed that training, savings and credit as sub constructs of NUDIPU’s iSave Model matter in influencing economic empowerment of people with disabilities. Furthermore, the study revealed that government regulations moderate the relationship between the iSave Model and economic empowerment of PWDs. This implies that the iSave Model is a useful and effective programme in delivering economic empowerment of people with disabilities in light of existing government regulations. In light of the findings, the study recommends rigorous follow-ups in form of M&E including midterm evaluations to ensure that proper induction is done and that the program is rightfully adopted and implemented as designed by following all guidelines in regards to PWDs numbers in the iSave groups, continuous sensitization of PWDs on the importance of savings and saving as a group, as many still keep their savings under their beds, as well as sensitization of PWDs on existing laws, policies and programmes meant for their economic empowerment and continuous capacity building through refresher trainings, providing self-study manuals, mentorship and coaching, ToTs and partnering with local government and financial institutions to train and to expand efforts towards formal financial linkages of PWDs, their groups and those operating MSEs for sustainable economic impacten_US
