Design review and construction supervision of Moyo Town Council water supply and sanitation system project - Moyo District local government
Abstract
This report details the construction of a water supply system, for which I served as the Project Manager on the Clients' side. The report includes a comprehensive overview of the construction approach and project management practices implemented during the execution phase. Specifically, I discuss the measures taken to ensure the achievement of project objectives relating to cost, quality, time, safety, and environmental aspects.
The project, funded by the Ministry of Water and Environment in partnership with Germany and financial Cooperation with Uganda through KfW under the “Support for Supply and Sanitation in Refugee Hosting Communities in Northern Uganda Programme, aimed to improve the socioeconomic situation and opportunities for people living in small towns and rural growth centers of Moyo District. By writing this report, the work was 100% completed and functional. The project activities involved the development of 01No production well, construction of a pump/Generator house, Guardhouse, and VIP Latrine at Pamujo 1 & 2, electro/mechanicals (Supply and Installation of Submersible Pump 120 KVA Generator), Supply and Installation of Pumping main from Pamujo to the reservoir tank, Supply and Installation of new 300m3 pressed Steel Reservoir Tank on 15m Steel Tower and Chlorine house, refurbishment of existing 150m3 Tank and renovation of 80m3 Steel Tank, Supply and Installation of distribution networks, construction of water office, construction of Public toilet, construction of VIP Latrine both for boys and Girls, intensification including private connections and public stand post construction. Contract sum (UGX) VAT inclusive for the above activities was at UGX 6,482,321,989 for 12 months and a defects liability period of one year. This report, therefore, covers the period from contract award to the complete construction stage. The project's execution and management were successful, with quality achieved by following standards, specifications, work methods, and costs managed through timely resourcing of activities at the provided rates. I ensured proper stakeholder involvement and a seamless flow of information throughout the project execution period.
