    Abstract
    This project report entails the project management practices applied and acquired during the construction of Mpungwe Seed Secondary School in Mayuge. The specific objectives of the study were to describe the project management practices applied during the construction of Mpungwe Seed Secondary School in Mayuge, to describe the project implementation process and methodologies applied, and to evaluate the lessons learnt and challenges encountered during construction of Mpungwe Seed Secondary School in Mayuge. The project management practices applied included; cost, quality, time and communication management. The project implementation process applied different methods at every stage which included; procurement management activities, human resource management activities, cost management activities, performance management activities, quality management activities, and project execution among others. The challenges faced were technical, administrative, and social, and solutions included; regular site supervision, and cash flow management among others. The lessons learnt were; Contract Documentation, Community and Stakeholder Management, Procurement of Contractors, Communications Management, Project Time Management, Cash flow Management, Management of Subcontractors, Records Management, and Regular site supervision. The report concludes that for successful project implementation, project management practices must be applied and adhered to. It is recommended that design reviews and project management requirements should be thoroughly done at project commencement, proper planning for material procurement and the client should always pay the contractor in time to facilitate the smooth progress of works especially for the completed works as per the contract terms and conditions.
