dc.description.abstractThe main purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between job involvement, job satisfaction, organizational commitment and performance in local governments of Masaka municipal council and Masaka district. The study utilized a correlational survey design. The study used a sample of 130 respondents. Data was collected using self administered questionnaires which were distributed to the selected respondents. The data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS). Frequencies and percentages were used to analyze the bio data, regression while the correlation was used to analyze the relationship between study variables. The finding s revealed that ,there was a strong positive significant correlation between job involvement and job satisfaction, job involvement and organizational commitment, job involvement and performance, job satisfaction and organizational commitment, job satisfaction and performance, organizational commitment and performance. However, there was no significant relationship between job involvement and performance in local governments. The study concluded that, job involvement and poor performance of local governments are affected by political interference, conflict of interest and corruption. This study, recommended that local government administrators create conditions to ensure development of positive attachment to wards local government and thus increase employee innovation, and creativity for better performance. In reference to the policy of local government, decentralization should be further designed to ensure increased job involvement of local authority staffs. This may further decentralization of decision making hence, more satisfied and committed employees for improved service delivery.en_US
