This report is written for the partial fulfillment of the requirements for the award of a Master's of Science in Construction Management of Makerere University. The report describes the implementation process of Kikyusa piped water and sanitation project which the candidate was involved in while working with Luweero District Local Government as Senior Water Engineer. The project was financed by the African development bank, Uganda government and the people of Kikyusa town. While working on this project and as a Senior Engineer in Luweero district. The candidate undertook the design review of the system components. The candidate was as well directly involved in construction supervision and control management. The design of Kikyusa town water supply system was an in house design undertaken jointly by the water and sanitation development facility-central of the Ministry of Water and Environment and Luweero District Water Office. The design was completed in June 2016 and was approved for implementation by the Design review Committee of the Ministry of Water and Environment in August 2017. As a Resident Engineer arranged for the implementation of the project effective September 2017. The procurement process of the project was undertaken by the water and sanitation development facility and the candidate sits on this committee as contacts committee member representing all local governments in the central region. The main aim of the project was to provide clean and safe water and promote sanitation to the people of Kikyusa town which was experiencing acute water shortage yet it was one of the highly populated towns in the district local government urban centres. Indeed the project turned around the living conditions of the people in the town raising the safe water coverage to more than 70% in the district. The sanitation situation also improved as a result of construction of public sanitation facilities within the town and effective sensitization and trainings during the implementation phase. The report gives details of the work which the candidate undertook as a supervising engineer, during the implementation of the design and construction supervision of Kikyusa water supply and sanitation system in Luweero district. Implemantion of the system was however not straight forward due to some challenges as fully highlighted in the report. The Central Umbrella Authority of water and sanitation undertook the operation and maintenance of the project. The system is fully functional and operational. I am grateful to Eng.
