This research study discusses and examines how security of information resources is managed at Kabale University Library in Uganda. The aim of the study was to identify the existing security measures to prevent theft, mutilation, vandalism, deletion and destruction of information resources so as to preserve the continuous use of these information resources in the library. The research aimed at developing strategies for enhancing security of information resources for Kabale University Library and objectives of the study were to; establish the existing security measures for information resources; examine the regulatory policy framework to enhance security of information resources, identify the challenges libraries face in enforcing security of library information resources and strategies for enhancing security of information resources. The study adopted a case study research design which incorporated quantitative and qualitative paradigms. The sampling techniques employed were both purposive and convenience. The research employed questionnaire, interview, observation and document review methods for data collection. Data were collected from 300 library users (students) through questionnaires and from 16 library staff and 4 members of library committee using interviews. The study findings revealed that computer passwords and existence of window locks helped in protection of library information resources. Checking library users when entering or leaving the library, putting in place only one exit, use of electronic devices like CCTV, training and retraining the library staff all were found out to be key in ensuring security of information resources in the library. The study established and concluded that whereas the measures put in place are effective, the security of the information resources at the library is still undermined by lack of adequate funding for library security, lack of equipment and technology and lack of technical capacity by staff at the library to ensure security. There is therefore need to increase funding and strengthen the capacity of staff at Kabale University Library in order to enhance the security of information resources at the library.en_US
