dc.description.abstract | Corporate governance is a new concept in the institution of Higher Learning in Uganda and there is little published about corporate governance in the management of public universities in Uganda. The developers of the law to guide corporate affairs of Public Universities in Uganda paid little attention to the corporate governance principles as clearly seen in the composition of the University Councils where members are randomly appointed without keen interest to the personal competency specifications, skills and experience. Non balance of the internal and external membership to the university councils and failure to guide on the hierarchy for the establishment of university organs for newly established universities and appointment of top officials who are responsible in carrying out other duties such as appointment of administrators. All this is related to the inadequacies in the law (UOTIA) regulating to existing and newly established public universities in Uganda that needs to be reviewed. | en_US |
