dc.description.abstractThe study examined the contribution of continuous professional development on job performance of teachers in nursery schools of Nangabo sub-county. It was guided by three objectives namely; to find out the contribution of formal off-the- job, formal on- the- job and internal informal continuous staff development teachers’ job performance in nursery schools in Nangabo sub-county, Wakiso District. I adopted a qualitative approach where data were collected using semi-structured interviews from six nursery teacher and three headteachers who were purposively and conveniently selected. I analyzed data using the thematic analysis technique. Overall, findings showed that formal off-the- job, formal on-the-job and informal internal continuous staff professional developments contributes to teachers’ job performance in nursery schools in Nangabo sub-county, Wakiso District. It was hence concluded that formal on-job, formal off job and informal continuous professional developments significantly relates with teachers’ job performance in nursery schools in Nangabo sub-county, Wakiso District. Hence, it was recommended that to boost teachers’ job performance in nursery schools in Nangabo sub-county, Wakiso District, there should be a policy put in place encouraging offering formal on the job, formal off the job and informal internal continuous professional developments. School authorities should put in place a fund in their budget supporting teachers’ professional staff developments to be able to tap the likely benefits.en_US
