Introduction: Presence of Monitoring and Evaluation(M&E) staff with required competence is crucial in determining health outcomes. Methods: A descriptive survey research design, qualitative and quantitative in nature was employed. A sample of 105 M&E practitioners and 15 health centre persons in charge were interviewed. A standard capacity assessment tool and Key informant interviews were used for data collection and data was analysed descroptively and presented in tables and boxplots. Results: Pre-service training and in-service training of M&E staff were moderately conducted with a mean of 30.67 and 28.67 respectively. Supportive supervision was however highly conducted with a total mean of 31.92. Conclusion: Public health centres should constantly build M&E staff capacity through pre-service and in-service training so as to improve their efficiency.en_US
