dc.description.abstract | Miscarriage is a prevalent and distressing experience that profoundly impacts both women and men’s psychological well-being and relationship dynamics. This study investigated the lived experiences, coping strategies, and relationship dynamics of women and men following miscarriage in Kampala District. The study used a qualitative approach in particular it used , using a phenomenological research design. The study employed a purposive sampling technique to select 12 participants who had experienced at at least one miscarriage atleast one month prior to the data collection. The sample included women aged 24-28 and men aged 28-50. Data was collected using in-depth interviews . The study identified the following major themes, Emotional Rollercoaster, The Search for an Explanation, Planned vs Unplanned Pregnancies, Lost Hope and Shattered Dreams ,Trauma, Aligning Reactions with Gender Expectations ,and Loss of Identity for research question one, The Partner’s Mutual Support, The Presence of Other Children,Religious Coping,A Replacement Baby,It's not just me,That should be me were identified for research question two, Figuring It Out Together,The State of the Relationship Before Miscarriage,Blame Game and Emotional Distance came up as themes for research question three. The study findings highlighted the psychological, social,spiritual and emotional impact of miscarriage for both women and men.Therefore, there is need for comprehensive and sensitive support for individuals navigating the aftermath of miscarriage. | en_US |
