The leadership challenges in Micro-Finance Institutions in empowerment of women: A case of FINCA Katwe-Butego Division, Masaka District between 1992 to 2008.
Abstract
The study mainly focused on finding out the leadership challenges faced by Microfinance Institutions in empowerment of women in Uganda. Also wanted to find out why many women had remained poor despite the existence of such Institutions yet their focus was mainly on women. FINCA Uganda Masaka branch was selected as a case study.
The objectives of the study was to find out why most women do not use Microfinance services for their development and also to examine the level of women empowerment in Masaka District due to the existence Microfinance Institutions.
The research was both quantitative and qualitative. The Researcher interviewed 60 Respondents; used major data collection tools (Books, Journals, websites, interviews, focus group discussion, interview method, questionnaires, data analysis (coding and analyzing and observation method).
The presentation was done basing on the following: Social demographic information, Membership of women groups, women empowerment, Involvement in leadership, leadership challenges and a SWOT analysis of FINCA.
